OSHKOSH, Wisc. – The Calvin Women's Cross Country team took 25th place at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday afternoon with a score of 567 points.
Washington U. won the race with a team score of 98 points. The overall female finisher was Paige Lawler of Washington U. with a time of 20.55.0.
Leading the Knights on the 6k course was senior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash. / Ingelmoor) who finished 16th individually with a time of 21:33.4. Diekema's finish earned her All-American honors as the top 40 individual finishers receive All-American status.
Coming in next for the Knights was junior Michelle Koetje (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) who took 130th overall with a time of 22:46.6. Senior Maria Kuiper (Holland, Mich. / Holland Christian) completed the course in 23:13.5 followed by freshman Sadie Heeringa (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) with a 23:22.0. Junior Emma Schroer (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton Warrenville South) closed out the scoring for the Knights with a time of 23:30.4.
Also competing for the Knights was seniors Catherine Croft (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Coopersville) who finished with a 23:39.0 and Breanna Kooiman (Tinley Park, Ill. / Chicago Christian)who recorded a time of 23:43.3.
The Knights close out the Cross Country season and prepare for their indoor Track & Field season. Calvin will open its Track & Field season at the GVSU Holiday Open on Friday, December 7th.
