Calvin Women's Volleyball Set to Host Albion College in MIAA Semifinal

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's volleyball team will host Albion College Friday at 7:30 p.m. for a MIAA Semifinal. 

The Teams: The Brits are 17-11 overall and are 5-3 in the MIAA. The Knights bring a 26-1 overall record and 8-0 MIAA record into the match. 

The Coaches: Kristin de St. Aubin is in her 7th year as head coach for Albion. She is a 2007 Albion graduate with a degree in K-12 physical education and secondary health education & she completed a master's degree in educational leadership at Western Michigan University in the spring of 2015. In her time as a player at Albion College, she was a three-year starter and captain.Kristin Slamer-de St. Aubin achieved a career milestone in 2017 by becoming the coach with the most wins in the history of the Albion volleyball program. In six seasons, de St. Aubin has led the Britons to 61 victories. The Britons achieved winning seasons in 2015 and 2016 and qualified as one of the four teams for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament in 2017. Her overall coaching record is 71-116. 

Dr. Amber Warners is in her 17th year as head coach of the Calvin volleyball program. A 1990 Calvin graduate, Warners was a former two-sport standout for Calvin in volleyball and softball. Warners earned her master's degree from Michigan State University in sports psychology in 1996. She also received her Ph.D. from Michigan State. In 16 years as Calvin's head coach, she has compiled a record of 501-73. Under Warners the Knights have won three national championships, in 2010, 2013 and 2016. Warners has led Calvin to 14 consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.

The Players: For the Brits, Taylor Rosenthal averages 2.75 kills per set and has a .336 attack percentage. Monica Shuk has a 4.80 digs per set percentage. 

For the Knights, Senior Anna Kamp (Orland Park, Ill. / Chicago Christian) averages 4.24 kills per set and has a .273 attack percentage. Junior Sarah DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Northpointe Christian) averages 3.27 kills per set and has a .340 attack percentage. Senior Keilahna Castillo (Grandville, Mich. / Grandville) has a 3.54 digs per set percentage.
