The Calvin women's track and field team has once again received the All-Academic Team Award from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Calvin women's team has now received the award 18 consecutive years.
In order to receive the award, a team needed to have posted a minimum 3.0 grade point average or better. The Calvin women's team posted a 3.43 grade point average.
In addition four members of the Calvin women's track and field team have received individual USTFCCCA All-Academic status.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list provided by TFRRS.org.
The four members of the Calvin women's track and field team to receive the USTFCCCA individual award include senior Katie Diekema (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS), juniors Allison Rozell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern HS) and Michelle Koetje (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and freshman Sadie Heeringa (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS).
The Calvin women's track and field team was led by 10th-year head coach Bret Otte. His men's and women's teams have received the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award all ten years during his tenure.
