GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's soccer team will host the University of Chicago Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The Teams: The Maroons come into the competition 5-0-1 on season. The Knights, 5-1-1 on the season earned a big win yesterday against Heidelberg.
The Coaches: Amy Reifert is in her 28thseason for the Maroons. A 1986 graduate of Amherst College, Reifert was a political science major and three-sport athlete.Her overall coaching record is 358-130-48 and has led the Maroons UAA Titles.Since 1991, Reifert has led the Maroons to 17 NCAA Division III postseason appearances, including five trips to the national semifinals and 11 trips to the Sweet 16 Round. Emily Ottenhoff is in her first season for the Knights. A Calvin Alum, Ottenhoff graduated in 2010 and was a four-year starter at midfield and earned All-American status in 2009. She has had a successful season so far as she has led the Knights to a 5-1-1 record.
The Players: For the Maroons, Senior Jenna McKinney is the leading scorer with five goals posted on the season. Junior Hanna Watkins has had four goals. For the Knights, senior Emily Van Vliet has the most goals on the season with five goals. Another senior, Mackenna Nesky has recorded four goals for the Knights on the season, one of which was the game winning goal against Heidelberg yesterday.
Series History: This will be the 10th time the Maroons and the Knights face off. The Knights have the 5-3-1 series advantage.
