Calvin Women's Basketball Set to Travel to Trine

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's basketball team will travel to Trine on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. for a conference matchup. 

The Teams: The Thunder are 16-2 overall on the season and 9-0 in the MIAA. The Knights bring 9-9 overall record and 4-5 MIAA record into the competition. 

The Coaches: Andy Rang was promoted to Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2017 andthis is his first season asinterim Head Coach. He enters his seventh season as a member of the Thunder coaching staff in 2018-19. Rang came to Trine University from IPFW where he served as Director of Operations for the women's basketball program for two seasons. Prior to IPFW, Rang spent five successful seasons as the Head Women's Coach at Fort Wayne South Side High School. Rang also serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Trine University. 

Austin Randel is in his first year as interim head coach for the Calvin women's basketball program. Randel graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in May of 2010. He started his college basketball career at NCAA Division II North Greenville University in Greenville, SC before transferring to Ferris State.

The Players: For the Thunder, Brandi Dawson leads the team with a 5.6 rebound average, a 17.1 scoring average and a 54.7 field goal percentage. 

For the Knights, Gabby Timmer leads the team with a 9.7 rebound average, 32 blocks, a 17.7 scoring average and a 51.6 field goal average.
