A native of Hudsonville and a graduate of Hudsonville Unity Christian High School, Borst has been named the MIAA Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career.
Borst was 2-0 with a save in the circle last week as the Knights went 3-0 at the MIAA Tournament last week, capturing their first MIAA Tournament crown since 1997. Over the three games, Borst struck out 13 batters while walking only three. She posted an earned run average of 0.89 while compiling two complete-game pitching performances.
Colon is from Caledonia. She is a graduate of Grand Rapids South Christian High School. Colon is also receiving MIAA Position Player of the Week honors for the first time.
At the MIAA Tournament last week, Colon batted .455 (5-for-11) with seven RBI and two home runs. She was also flawless in the field, not committing an error in 14 fielding chances.
Borst and Colon have helped Calvin post an overall record of 29-8. The Knights are headed to the NCAA III Tournament for the second straight year and will face Milwaukee School of Engineering in a first round game Thursday at noon (CST) in Bloomington, Illinois.
