ANGOLA, Ind. – The Calvin women's Softball team fell to Trine University in a doubleheader battle for MIAA first place position on Monday evening.

It was a battle for the first-place position indeed as the two teams contended back and forth the first four innings as neither was able to earn any runs.
The Knights scored first in the top of the fifth as junior Abi Colon (Caledonia, Mich. / South Christian) singled to center field and junior Hannah Horvath (Caledonia, Mich. / Caledonia/ Lansing CC) ran home to give Calvin the 1-0 edge.
The Thunder answered in the bottom of the fifth to tie the ballgame up.
Trine went on to score one more run in the bottom of the sixth, and as Calvin failed to score another run in the seventh, the Thunder walked away with the 2-1 victory.

Much like the first game, the two teams battled throughout the first four innings as the game remained scoreless.
Trine struck first in the top of the fifth to take a 2-0 lead over Calvin.
The Thunder stretched its lead in the top of the six scoring three more runs.
Calvin got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, as sophomore Grace Stock (Vicksburg, Mich. / Vicksburg) blasted a double to left field to bring in Colon to make it 5-1.
As the Knights were able to connect on any more runs in the seventh, Trine once again claimed the victory and earned a sweep on the day over the Knights.
