NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The eighth-ranked Calvin men's cross country team powered its way to a first place finish in the Gold Division of the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational Friday afternoon.

"It was definitely our best team performance of the season," said Calvin men's cross country coach Brian Diemer. "We kept our pack tight which was great to see. Tyler Johnson had the best sprint left at the finish to lead the pack but we really ran strong as a team. If we can continue to put these type of team performances together, we could be a very good team come November."
Calvin was one of 11 teams in the Gold Division with the remaining 10 teams Division I institutions.
