Calvin Men's Soccer Clips Comets to Remain Unbeaten in MIAA

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Calvin improved to 16-1-0 overall and 5-0 in league play with a 9-0 victory over Olivet Tuesday night at Zuidema Field.

Ranked second nationally, Calvin scored five goals in the first half and added four in the second half to complete the win.

Senior Hunter Olson (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) scored a pair of goals to boost his season total to 12.

Sophomores Sam Twigg (Auckland, New Zealand HS) and Aguma Ahumuza (Baton Rouge, La./The Dunham School) both had a goal and an assist. Senior Dillon Weldy (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) also had a goal and an assist.

Also scoring goals were senior Alex McDowell (Holt, Mich./Lansing Christian HS), junior Quinn Loosle (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) and sophomores Drew Van Andel (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven HS) and Luca Seazzu (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque HS).

Senior Ian Adams (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) notched a pair of assists to bring his nation-leading assist total to 16.

Freshman Daniel Wunder (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) went the distance in goal, making three saves and collecting his third straight shutout victory.

COACHES COMMENT: "It's always good to get a conference victory," said Calvin men's soccer coach Ryan Souders. "Now our focus turns to Saturday with a very talented opponent ahead."

NEXT UP: Calvin will travel to Kalamazoo on Saturday for a match scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
