GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's Golf team finished in fourth place in the Knight Invite on Tuesday evening at Thornapple Pointe Golf Course.
Claiming the team title out of a spread of eight teams was Trine University with 306 strokes. Tying for second place was Hope College and Kalamazoo College with 307 strokes followed by Calvin with 309 strokes.
Leading the Knights was freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) with a round of 74 strokes. Senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) was next with a score of 75. Recording a 79 was senior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich. / Brandywine) followed by sophomore Sam Holland (Novi, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) with an 81 and freshman Mike Battiste (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Central) with an 82.
The Knights also had a B team compete who finished in sixth place overall with a score of 313. Freshman Kasen Anderson (Stillwater, MN. / St. Croix Preparatory Academy) led the team with a round of 77. Senior Mitchell Knoor (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) and freshman Max Grant (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton High School)both recorded a 78. Scoring an 80 was sophomore Joshua Lanksy (Park City, Utah / Park City)as well as freshman Kes Raath (Chiang Rai, Thailand / Chiang Rai International School).
The Knights return to action on Saturday as they compete in the MIAA Spring AQ Tournament at Watermark Country Club. First tee off will be at 1 p.m.
