The Calvin University Knights defeat the Aquinas College St. Bernard's 4-1 on Friday night.
Coming off a 2-0 weekend against Eastern Michigan the Knights looked to keep it rolling coming into Friday night against Aquinas.
In the first period both teams came out strong and fast looking to find the early lead, but both teams held strong in the back and neither team could find the back of the net. Both teams eventually found some strong scoring chances but could not find the back of the net. With about two minutes to go in the period Calvin broke the deadlock with a short handed goal from Christian Gums.
The first period concluded with Calvin leading Aquinas 1-0.
In the second period Aquinas tied the game at 1-1 just three minutes in. Calvin battled back hard but could not find their way through the Aquinas defense.
The second period ended with the game tied 1-1.
In the third period the Knights took control of the game. Seven minutes into the period Calvin took the lead again with a powerplay goal from Jacob Siebenga with assists from Jared Virtanen and Riley Robertson. Four minutes later Calvin added to their lead with another goal from Siebenga with the helper coming from Virtanen. About five minutes later Siebenga completed his hat trick with a powerplay goal from Virtanen and Robertson.
The game concluded with Calvin coming out victorious over Aquinas 4-1.
Knights Goaltender Darin Fox had a great game with 37 saves on the night.
