The Calvin Knights ACHA D1 Hockey Team defeated the Eastern Michigan Eagles 5-0 on Friday night.
In the first period the Knights came and fast and strong. They quickly got after the Eagles and recieved a couple good chances at goal. About halfway through the first period the Knights found the back of the net with a goal from Nick Workman with the assists coming from Ben Morse and Jared Virtanen. The Knights got a couple more good looks at goal but could not find another way past the Eagles goaltender. The first period concluded with the Knights in the lead 1-0.
In the second period the Knights started where they left off and quickly added another goal coming from Joe Wilkinson with helpers coming from Austin Huizenga and Jared Virtanen. A few minutes later the Knights got another goal this time it came from Garrett Pitter. The Eagles looked to push back at the Knights in the middle of the second but could not find a way to get past the Knights defense. Late in the period the Knights tallied another goal from Garrett Pitter with the helpers coming from Spencer Rowlette and Garrett Medina. The second period concluded with the Knights in the lead 4-0.
In the third period the Eagles pushed to find a way to score but once again the Knights held strong and kept the Eagles off the scoresheet. Late in the period the Knights added one more goal coming from Josh Hartlein with the assists from Keegan Weckesser and Garrett Pitter. The third period ended with the Knights coming out victorious with a 5-0 win over the Eagles.
Knights Goaltender Alex Gross had a shutout with 23 saves on the night.
