NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 6 ranked Knights stayed perfect in the MIAA volleyball standings with a 3-0 victory at Saint Mary's on Wednesday evening. The Calvin volleyball team moved to 15-3 on the year and 11-0 in the MIAA. The Belles are now 10-8 and 6-5 in MIAA action. The Knights swept Saint Mary's 25-15, 25-18, 25-22.

"I am pleased to head home with a victory," said head coach Dr. Amber Warners. "The MIAA has some quality teams and you have to bring it every night."

With the first set tied at three, the Knights got some separation with a 7-1 run. The run started with an attack error from Saint Mary's and then two kills from senior Jenna Lodewyk (Villa Park, Ill./Timothy Christian). The Calvin serve created issues for the Belles offense on Wednesday. A pair of service aces from senior Emily Blankespoor (Grand Rapids, Mich./South Christian) forced the Belles to call a timeout at the 19-12 mark. A kill from junior Anna Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) finished the set at 25-15.

The Knights jumped out to a hot start in the second set. The serve of Emily Blankespoor and junior Keilahna Castillo (Grandville, Mich./Grandville) propelled Calvin to a 7-2 lead. Leading 8-4, the Knights rode a 5-1 run to push the lead to 13-5. The Belles would cut the Calvin lead to four points, but that is as close as they would get. Sophomore Sarah DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian) closed the set with a kill at 25-18.

The Belles would not go away and took an early 5-2 lead in the third set. The Knight would take the next three points, with two kills from Anna Kamp, to tie the set at five. Leading 12-11, the Knights broke open the set behind the serve of Sarah DeVries and claimed the next five points. Senior Tessa Van Laare (Toronto, Ont./Toronto District Christian) ended the match at 25-22.

Anna Kamp had a match-high 12 kills on Wednesday. Sarah DeVries lead all players with a career-high 12 digs and notched nine kills. Emily Blankespoor and Keilahna Castillo both recorded three service aces and Jenna Lodewyk tallied 32 assists.

Calvin returns to action on Friday at the Midwest Invitational. MIAA play resumes Tuesday against Alma.
