Elmhurst Edges Women’s Tennis, 5-4

WHEATON, Ill. – The Calvin women's tennis team fell to 2-1 on the season with a 5-4 loss to Elmhurst on Friday night.

"Today was a tough match," said head coach Kevin Van Haitsma. "They outplayed us in doubles and won a lot of close matches. They played well and got us in a tight one."

The Knights picked up a victory at No. 3 doubles with the team of junior Jessica Bouma (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo) and Anna Asfour defeating Elmhurst's Meg Simon and Dacey Maglaque, 8-2.

Junior Micaela Seazzu (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia) won at No. 4 singles over Kathryn Wheeler, 6-3, 6-1.

Freshman Anna Asfour (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) was victorious at No. 5 singles over Dacey Maglaque, 6-3, 6-4.

Junior Kari Kroeze (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) swept Meg Simon at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

The Knights return to action on Saturday at Wheaton.
