Calvin Women's Swimming and Diving Rolls Up Points on Day One of Calvin Knight Invite

The Calvin women's swimming and diving team picked up 167 points on the opening of competition of its own Calvin Knight Invitational.

Calvin currently sits in third place in a field of seven teams.

Calvin's 800 freestyle relay team of seniors Anna Serino (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney HS), Madelyn Smith (Allegan, Mich./Allegan HS), Kendall Murphy (Modesto, Ca./Home Schooled) and freshman Valderie Edewaard (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) was second in a season-best time of 7:40.65. The time currently ranks second in Division III women's swimming this season.

In the 1,650, Murphy was seventh (18:10.22), sophomore Robyn Ellens (Hamilton, Mich./Holland Christian HS) ninth (18:17.78), junior Audrey Brinks (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) 16th (19:04.46) and sophomore Laura Barbachyn (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) 17th (19:27.78).

Action continues on Friday with morning prelims at 10 a.m. and evening finals at 6 p.m.
