TIFFIN, Ohio. – The Calvin women's soccer team defeated Heidelberg University 1-0.
The Knights and The Berg both came out fighting as the game remained scoreless in the first half of competition.
With the second half underway, both teams continued battling to get on the board. It was not until the final minute of play that Calvin's senior Mackenna Nesky (Hudsonville, Mich. / Unity Christian) scored the winning goal for the Knights. It was her fourth goal of the season.
Head Coach Emily Ottenhoff stated, "I'm pleased with our persistence tonight in finding a way to get out a result on the road. Heidelberg played hard and made it difficult for us to break them down. We have a lot of work to do as we prepare for Chicago on Saturday."
Calvin outshot Heidelberg 16-3. Sophomore Amy Kliewer (Grand Rapids, Mich. / Forest Hills Northern) had two saves on goal for the Knights.
With tonight's win, The Knights improve their record to 5-1-1.
Calvin will host Chicago Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
