Olivet Nips Women’s Soccer in Regular Season Finale

OLIVET, Mich. – The Calvin women's soccer regular season ended on a cold Monday afternoon at Olivet. The Comets walked away from the rain and snow with a 2-1 victory. The Knights now open the postseason on Thursday at Hope in the MIAA Tournament.

Olivet took the lead in the 37th minute with a goal from Maya Prewitt.

Junior Bekah Maguire (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) tied the match with 47 seconds left in the first half. Maguire headed the ball in a pile right in front of the net from a pass from junior Kali Mouw (Avon, N.Y./Avon Central).

The Comets broke the tie in the 59th minute with the game-winning goal from Emma Essen.

The Knights had chances in the second half, but were unable to capitalize.

Freshman Amy Kliewer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) posted four saves on Monday.

The time for the match on Thursday has not been set yet. The highest seed remaining will host the championship match on Saturday. Olivet will host Adrian in the other semifinal match.
