Women’s Soccer Falls to Wheaton

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's soccer team fell to Wheaton on Tuesday afternoon, 1-0. The loss moves Calvin to 5-4-1 on the year and Wheaton improves to 3-6-0.

"Wheaton played a good game today," said head coach Mark Recker. "I felt that we didn't bring the energy that we need to bring to win today."

Wheaton tallied the only goal of the day in the 59th minute, when Autumn Rasmussen snuck past a defender and put the ball in the back of the net.

Calvin had its chances, but was not able to capitalize. In the 71st minute, junior Sydney Barcey (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac) rang a shot off the crossbar.

Freshman Whitney Koets (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) had a team-high two shots.

Sophomore Brianna Koehn (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) recorded seven saves on Tuesday.

The Knights return to action Wednesday at Olivet.
