Calvin Women's Lacrosse Claims Conference Contest Over Comets

OLIVET, Mich. - Calvin got back on the winning track with a 30-1 conference victory at Olivet Wednesday night.

Calvin scored eight goals in the opening eight minutes, en route to taking a 21-1 halftime lead.

The Knights also controlled possession by winning 29 draw controls while sending 51 shots at the Olivet goal.

Senior Lauryn Slachter (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) tallied seven goals to build her career goal total to 81 and her career point total to 100.

Senior Genevieve Schneeman (Farmington, Mich./Farmington HS) rang up six goals while junior Jaimie Van De Burg (Lowell, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had five goals.

Junior Allyson Mesman (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS) and freshman Megan Gilbert (Lansing, Mich./Holt HS) contributed four goals apiece.

Senior Emma Tilma (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and freshman Drew Jansma (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa HS) had two goals each.

Senior Alyssa Gagnon (Minooka, Il./Minooka HS) won 11 draw controls for the Knights while Gilbert won 10. Slachter was also credited with a game-high five ground balls.

Senior Ellis Chalfant (St. Louis./Mo./Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School) and sophomore Megan Economou (Hartland, Mich./Hartland HS) combined on the win for Calvin in goal.

The Knights return to action on Saturday when they host Kalamazoo at 4 p.m. in a conference match at Zuidema Field.
