GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to five games and maintained its perfect conference record with a 19-0 win over Alma College on Saturday afternoon at Zuidema field.

With the victory, the Knights improve to 6-5 on the year with a 4-0 MIAA mark. The Scots drop to 7-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

The Knights' offense put the pressure on early to take control of the first half, building a ten-goal lead before the halftime break.

Senior Emily Cefaratti (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) got the Knights on the board first, scoring an unassisted goal just over two minutes into the contest. In the following minute, Calvin added a pair of goals. Emma Verrett (Beaver, Pa./Beaver County Christian) fed Grace Einfeld (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) for the Knights' second goal, while Kelly Pepper (Wyckoff, N.J./Indian Hills) assisted Amanda Davio (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) for their third.

Pepper picked up another assist, setting up Emma Tilma (Grand Rapids, MIch./Grand Rapids Christian) to make the score 4-0. Just under five minutes into the game, Verrett added another Calvin goal; Cefaratti earned the assist on the scoring play.

Cefaratti and Davio scored their second goals of the afternoon to widen Calvin's advantage to seven goals.

After 15 minutes of no scoring, Tilma scored her second goal of the afternoon, assisted once again by Pepper. With just under three minutes remaining before halftime, Tilma returned the favor, feeding Pepper of Calvin's ninth goal.

Emma Hall (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School) netted a goal in the final minute of the first half, and Calvin headed into the break with a commanding 10-0 lead.

The Knights outshot the Scots 28-1 in the first half.

Calvin continued to roll in the second half, posting a 15-6 shots advantage to outscore Alma 7-0.

TIlma and Pepper completed their hat tricks in the second half, while Verrett had three second-half to finish with four goals. Davio scored three consecutive goals in the second half to lead the Knights with a total of five goals on seven shots. Cefaratti posted a team-high four assists, also contributing two goals.

Calvin outshot Alma 43-7 on the afternoon. The Knights were 11-11 on clear attempts and 16-20 draw controls, all won by Madeline Baas (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian).

Sophomore goaltender Ellis Chalfant collected three saves to earn her second consecutive shutout victory.

"I can't say enough about the drive and determination of this team," said Calvin women's lacrosse coach Blake Boehm. "Their focus and dedication to playing our game and sticking to our principles is outstanding. We're operating at a higher level than we did earlier this season. Our players are working hard for every loose ball and understanding the value of each possession."

The Knights are back in action on Tuesday, April 18, when they host Kalamazoo at Zuidema Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
