Calvin Women's Golf Takes Eighth at MIAA Fall Tournament - Finishes Seventh in Final League Standings
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Calvin women's golf team took eighth place at the MIAA Fall Tournament on Saturday.
 
Calvin finished seventh in the final MIAA overall team standings, one stroke ahead of eighth place Adrian.
 
After shooting a round of 356 Friday afternoon, Calvin came back with a Saturday morning team round of 346.
 
Junior Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian HS) had a round of 82 on Saturday to finish in a tie for 13th place individually with a two-day total of 162 (80-82). 
 
Freshman Linnea McDonough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater HS) also had a round of 82 on Saturday to finish tied for 16th with a tournament total of 167 (85-82). 
 
Sophomore Jessica Zylstra (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) had a 90 on Saturday and had a tournament total of 184 (94-90).
 
Junior Katy Hamilton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS) and senior Gen Best (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) had rounds of 92 Saturday. Hamilton finished with a tournament total of 189 (97-92). Best finished with a tournament total of 196 (104-92).
 
Saint Mary's won the tournament and the MIAA regular season title on Saturday. The Belles posted a team score of 615 over the weekend including a round of 301. Saint Mary's finished 29 strokes ahead of Hope in the tournament and 42 strokes ahead of the Flying Dutch in the final MIAA overall standings.
