Women's Golf Takes Seventh at MIAA Jamboree #4

ALMA, Mich. – The Calvin women's golf team posted a seventh place team score of 360 strokes at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma Saturday at the Pine River Country Club.

Heading into the 36-hole MIAA Fall Tournament, Calvin remains in sixth place in the overall MIAA team standings.

Junior Emilee McCusker (Hayward, Wisc./Hayward HS) had a terrific round for the Knights, carding a score of 81 that was good for a tie for eighth place individually. McCusker remains ranked in the top 12 in the MIAA overall individual standings.

Sophomore Grace Bolt (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) also had a solid afternoon for Calvin, firing a season-best score of 85.

Freshman Jessica Zylstra (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) also had a season-best round of 93.

Senior Amira Bousaab (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian HS) had a 101 and sophomore Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian HS) had a 105 to round out Calvin's starting lineup.

Competing as individuals, senior Katherine Ryan (Haslett, Mich./Haslett HS) had a 97, junior Gen Best (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) had a 99 and sophomore Katy Hamilton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS) a 104.

Saint Mary's and Hope tied for first place on Saturday with team scores of 321. Hope remains in the lead in the overall MIAA team standings.

Megan Klintworth of Hope, Laura Bacso of Olivet and Julia DeBelly of Trine shared medalist honors on Saturday with rounds of 71.

Calvin will now prepare for the MIAA Fall Tournament October 7 and 8 at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
