Calvin Women's Basketball Set to Host Kalamazoo

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin women's basketball team will host Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. for a conference matchup. This is the second meeting of the two teams this season as the Knights defeated the Hornets 82-48 in January. 

The Teams: The Hornets are 0-22 overall on the season and 0-13 in the MIAA. The Knights bring an 10-13 overall record and 5-9 MIAA record into the competition. 

The Coaches: Katie Miller is in her eighth year as head coach for the Kalamazoo women's basketball program. Prior to Kalamazoo, Miller was the full-time assistant women's basketball coach at Westminster College (Pa.) for nine seasons. Originally from Cleveland, Miller graduated from Mount Union College (Ohio) in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in sports management. She was a four-year member of the Purple Raiders basketball team. Miller earned her master's of education degree at Bowling Green State University in 2002.

Austin Randal is in his first year as interim head coach for the Calvin women's basketball program. Randel graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business in May of 2010. He started his college basketball career at NCAA Division II North Greenville University in Greenville, SC before transferring to Ferris State.

The Players: For the Hornets, Kaytlyn Tidey leads the team with 14.5 scoring average, 35 steals and 30 assists. 

For the Knights, Gabby Timmer leads the team with a 10.4 rebound average, 39 blocks, a 17.6 scoring average and a 51.0 field goal average.
