Albion, Mich. – The Calvin women's basketball team fell to Albion 88-62 in a conference contest on Wednesday night.
Albion came out strong as they went on a run of 13 points to lead 18-4 and closed out the first quarter with a 20-7 lead over the Knights.
As the second quarter began, the Brits continued to control the ball as they lengthened their lead to 41-24. Calvin then went on a hot streak as they tightened the score to 41-31.
Both teams battled in the third quarter as the two exchanged points back and forth. A jump-shot by freshman Gabby Timmer (Caledonia, Mich. / South Christian) made it a 11-point game as the Knights trailed 45-36. As the quarter progressed, the two teams continued to rally back and forth. As the quarter began to close out, Albion began to pull ahead as they lead 56-41.
From that point on, the Brits continued extend their lead throughout the fourth quarter and they ran away with it 88-62.
Timmer lead the team with 19 points and eight rebounds.
The Knights return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host rival Hope College at 3 p.m.
