For the second time this year, Calvin freshman Gabby Timmer has been named MIAA Player of the Week in women's basketball.
A native of Caledonia and a graduate of Grand Rapids South Christian High School, Timmer poured averaged 27.0 points and 8.0 rebounds a game in leading Calvin to victories over Finlandia and St. Mary's.
In a 62-56 win over Finlandia on Wednesday, she recorded her third double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds. She followed with 27 points and five rebounds in Saturday's 62-54 win at St. Mary's, connecting on her first 10 shots of the game.
Over the course of the week, she connected on 67.6 percent (25 of 37) of her field goal attempts. She also blocked five shots and was credited with four assists and two steals.
Calvin is now 4-3 on the season heading into a matchup against nationally-ranked Trine Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Van Noord Arena.
