The Calvin softball team is headed to a four-team NCAA III Tournament regional hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University later this week.
Calvin (29-8) will face Milwaukee School of Engineering (33-10) in a first round game with host Illinois Wesleyan (33-7) set to face Otterbein (24-15) in the other first round game at noon (CST). The regional will be a double-elimination format. Otterbein will face Illinois Wesleyan in the game to follow.
"We are really excited to compete in the NCAA III Tournament," said Calvin head softball coach Becky Hilgert. "We know that we will be challenged right away with an outstanding team from MSOE and Otterbein and Illinois Wesleyan are also both outstanding teams. Having said that we are looking forward to compete this weekend. It's an exciting time to be playing softball."
Calvin is making its second straight appearance in the NCAA III Tournament. Calvin advanced to the regional finals last May. The Knights qualified for the NCAA III Tournament by winning the MIAA Tournament title this past weekend with a victory against Hope and two wins against Saint Mary's.
