    The National Fastpitch Coaches Association named three Calvin players to the NFCA Central All-Region Team on Wednesday afternoon. Anna Gernant was named to the first team, with Jessica Brasser earning second-team honors and Maddie DeGroot landing on the third team.

    The Calvin softball team fell on Monday afternoon in the NCAA Regional Finals. The Knights lost 6-9 and 0-2 on Monday afternoon at Hope. The games were the sixth and seventh games of the rivalry showdown in 2018. The Knights finish the year with a school record of 32-10.

    The Calvin softball team ended the MIAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Knights fell to Hope in an elimination game, 4-1. The loss snaps an eight-game winning streak against the Flying Dutch.

    The No. 16 ranked Calvin softball team posted a 1-1 record in the MIAA Tournament on Friday afternoon. The Maroon and Gold started a day with a 3-1 victory over archrival Hope. No. 10 Saint Mary’s then topped Calvin, 8-0. The Knights move to 30-7 on the year, the 30 victories ties the school record for wins in a single season.
  • Softball Secures Five All-MIAA Selections

    Five members of the Calvin softball team were named to All-MIAA teams on Wednesday afternoon. Anna Gernant, Maddie DeGroot and Grace Stock were all named to the All-MIAA First Team. Ellie Borst and Jessica Brasser were named to the All-MIAA Second Team. The five selections are the most for Calvin since 2005, when the Knights also had five selections.

    Junior Anna Gernant was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. This is the second time in her career that she has claimed the honor.

    For the second-straight week, Anna Gernant was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week. Gernant helped the Knights go 7-1 last week and helped the Knights secure the No. 2 seed in the MIAA Tournament.
  • Softball Splits at No. 16 Trine

    The Calvin softball team finished the 2018 regular season with a split at No. 16 Trine. The Knights took the first game to eliminate Trine from the MIAA Tournament, 7-0. The Thunder stuck back in game two 5-7.
  • Softball Sweeps Olivet; Clinches MIAA Tournament Birth

    For the first time since 2014, the Calvin softball team will play in May. The Knights not only clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament, but also the No. 2 seed in the tournament with a sweep of the Comets on Friday afternoon. The Maroon and Gold spoiled senior day at Olivet with 1-0 and 5-0 victories over the Comets. With the victories, Calvin improves to 28-5 on the year and 11-3 in the MIAA. The 28 wins are the most since 1995, when the Knights went 31-11. The Maroon and Gold passed the 1997 team on Friday, that recorded a record of 27-13.
  • Softball Sweeps Wheaton

    The Calvin softball team finished the non-conference portion of the schedule with a sweep on the Thunder of Wheaton on Wednesday. The Knights topped Wheaton 2-1 and 9-6 on Wednesday evening. The magic number remains at one for Calvin to clinch a spot in the MIAA Tournament with Alma sweeping No. 20 Hope.

    Anna Gernant was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week. Gernant helped the Knights go 6-0 last week and 4-0 in the MIAA.
  • Softball Sweeps No. 20 Hope
    April 23, 2018
    The Calvin softball team came out on top of the storied Calvin vs. Hope rivalry on Monday afternoon at Hope College. The visiting Knights defeated the No. 20-ranked Flying Dutch 2-1 and 4-1 on Monday. Calvin has now won the last seven meetings in the rivalry. With the sweep, Calvin moves into a tie for second place with Hope at 9-3 in the MIAA standings. Over, Calvin improves to 24-5 and No. 20 Hope falls to 23-6. Calvin’s magic number is down to one game to clinch a spot in the MIAA Tournament.

    The Calvin softball team picked up two important MIAA victories on Thursday afternoon against the Hornets of Kalamazoo College. The Knights sprayed the Hornets 7-2 and 14-1 to improve to 20-5 in the season and 5-3 in MIAA action. Kalamazoo falls to 8-16 and 0-8 in the MIAA. The Knights currently stand in fourth place in the MIAA.

    The Calvin softball team improved to 18-5 on the year with a pair of wins at Manchester on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights recorded their third sweep of the season with 9-0 and 5-1 victories over Manchester. Manchester falls to 12-16 on the year.

    The No. 20 ranked Calvin softball team split with the Alma Scots on Tuesday. The split helps keep the Knights alive in a tight MIAA race. The Scots took game one, 7-3, with the Knights responding with a 10-2 victory in game two. Calvin improves to 16-5 overall and to 3-3 in the MIAA.

  • Softball Secures MIAA Weekly Honors

    The Calvin softball team claimed both of the MIAA weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Calvin is coming off a 4-0 week, where the Knights swept Anderson and Adrian. The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Grace Stock the Co-MIAA Player of the Week and Anna Gernant the MIAA Pitcher of the Week for their performances against Anderson and Adrian, last week. This is the first time that Calvin has swept the weekly honors since March 18, 2017, when Rachel Borden and Anna Gernant claimed the weekly accolades.

    The Calvin softball team stands in first place in the MIAA with a pair of victories over Adrian on Friday. The Knights improve to 15-2 on the year with a sweep on the Bulldogs. Calvin only needed five innings to beat the Bulldogs 8-0 in game one and took game two, 7-0. Adrian falls to 8-10 in 2018.

    The Calvin softball team swept the home opener on Thursday afternoon at Gainey Field. The Knights opened the day with an 8-0 victory over Anderson. The Maroon and Gold finished off the Ravens in game two, 11-1. Calvin improves to 13-2 on the season and sends Anderson to 5-9.

    The Calvin softball team closed the book on the spring break portion of the schedule on Friday with a 5-4 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire and an 8-1 victory over Juniata. The Knights move to 11-2 on the season. The Maroon and Gold finished the PFX Spring Games with a 7-2 record and led Benedictine before the game was called due to weather.

    The Calvin softball team had another successful outing on the diamond on Thursday. The Knights rallied from down five to win 8-7 against Grinnell and the Maroon and Gold finished the day with a 2-1 victory over Carroll to improve to 10-1 on the season.
