Ethan Valentine Breaks School Record at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Ethan Valentine broke the school record in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.

"Ethan ran very well today," said Calvin head coach Bret Otte. "Rick Otte and I thought based on practices, that Ethan would run that fast soon. But, it is always satisfying to see that happen in a race."

A junior from Mason, Ohio, Valentine cruised in the third heat on Friday. He recorded the fastest time of the day at 46.80 to advance to the finals on Saturday.

Valentine broke the school record that stood at 47.24. He also broke the stadium record of 47.34.

The competition ends on Saturday at the championships. Calvin is currently tied for 33rd place with two points. George Fox leads with 23 points.
