Calvin Men's Track and Field Athletes Compete at Hillsdale Gina Relays & Calvin Tune-Up Invitational

A group of Calvin's distance runners competed at the Hillsdale Gina Relays Thursday and Friday night while Calvin's throwers competed at the Calvin Tune-Up Invitational Friday evening.

On Thursday night at the Hillsdale Gina Relays, junior Matt Boelens (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Regional HS) was eighth in the men's open steeplechase competition with a time of 9:58.36. In the men's open 5,000 meter run, freshman Tyler Johnson (Springfield, Il./Pleasant Plains HS) was 15th in a time of 14:53.96.

On Friday night in the men's championship steeplechase race, senior Zac Nowicki (Comstock Park, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) was 10th with a season-best time of 9:18.31. His time currently ranks 13th nationally. Freshman Caleb Ferguson (Naperville, Il./Neuqua Valley HS) was 16th in a time of 9:25.77.

In the men's championship 5,000 meter race, senior Jordan Kramer (Pewaukee, Wisc./Lake Country Lutheran HS) was 13th in a time of 14:33.79. His time ranks 19th on the national list. Junior Andrew Philipose (Mount Prospect, Il./John Hersey HS) was 16th in a time of 14:37.62.
At Calvin on Friday, senior Erick Holder (Marian, Ind./Eastbrook HS) was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 157-0. Freshman Jordan Jorritsma (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) was sixth (155-4).
