Valentine Takes Fourth at NCAA Indoor Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Ethan Valentine took fourth place in the 400 meter finals on Saturday afternoon at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of North Central College. A junior from Mason, Ohio, Valentine clocked in a time of 48.87.

"Ethan ran very well today," said Calvin head coach Bret Otte. "He ran one of his three fastest indoor times today. He ran fast enough to place fourth in a very challenging field."

Marquis Brown of Texas Lutheran won the event with a winning time of 48.62.

The fourth place finish for Valentine gave Calvin five points and a 42nd place team finish. It is also the highest finish for a Calvin student-athlete at the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Championships since 2011.

North Central and Wisconsin-La Crosse tied for first with 34 points.

Valentine and the Knights open the outdoor season on March 24 and the Montevallo Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Alabama.
