KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Calvin men's tennis team fell at No. 24 Kalamazoo on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets stung the Knights 9-0 to improve to 13-1 and 5-0 in the MIAA. Calvin is now 13-5 on the season.
"Kalamazoo is a very good team," said head coach John Ross. "We have to get ready for two very big matches for us next week."
The Hornets swept singles play on Saturday. The most competitive match came at No. 2 singles where junior David Brown (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich) fell to Elan Dantus, 6-0, 6-4.
The Knights close the home schedule on Wednesday against Albion and wrap-up the regular season on Saturday at Adrian.
The Knights can secure a spot in the MIAA Tournament with a victory. Calvin is currently in fourth place at 3-2. Adrian and Hope are tied for second place at 4-1. Trine is in fifth place at 2-3 and Calvin holds a tiebreaker over Trine.
