Men’s Swimming & Diving Takes 37th at NCAA Championships

SHENANDOAH, Texas – The Calvin men's swimming & diving team finished the 2017 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday. The Knights finished in 37th place with 12 points. Calvin scored all 12 points on Wednesday in the 200-yard medley relay that placed 11th. Emory claimed the 2017 crown with 438 points. Calvin has now scored points in the last four championships.

"I am very proud to coach this group," said head coach Dan Gelderloos. "They worked hard for each other, for their team and for Calvin. We had many highs and lows and in time it will provide us with lessons to motivate many future Calvin swimmers and divers."

Jared Britton (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) started the day with a 40th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 45.91.

Junior Michael Moentmann (Solon, Ohio/Solon) finished the 3-meter competition in 21st place at 424.20.

"This competition was an amazing competition to be a part of today," said diving coach Aaron Paskvan. "It was really a lot of fun. It was just one guy after another ripping entries. We are happy with the grit Mike showed. He hung in there and fought hard to get in there, it's just unfortunate that we got knocked out of scoring in the last round."

Calvin finished the year with a 5-5 record.
