GRAND RAPIDS - On Friday, day one of the NCAA III Regional diving meet was held in the Venema Aquatic Center on the campus of Calvin College. The second event held was the Men's three meter dive.

Michael Moentmann, a junior from Solon, Ohio, and Dirk Tanis, a senior from Holland, both competed in the event for the Knights alongside 27 other divers.

Moentmann finished in 6th place with 493.60, while Tanis ended up with 420.25 points, good for 16th place.

Aaron Paskvan, diving coach for the Knights, gave his thoughts on the performance.

"Dirk dove really well. This is his best-ever score at regionals, and especially after conferences, this was huge for him. Great for a senior to go out on a high note."

"Michael dove great today. He put in one of the highest-scoring dives of the meet, and i couldn't be prouder of him. Hopefully, he can go to nationals for the second year in a row."

Tanis and Moentmann will return to the diving boards on Saturday, when they both compete in the one meter category."
