Men’s Swimming & Diving Dominates Alma

ALMA, Mich. – The Calvin men's swimming & diving team improved to 2-3 and 2-0 in the MIAA with a 186-23 victory over Alma. The Knights swept the Scots and won all 13 events.

The Knights started the day winning the 200-yard medley relay at 1:45.52, with the team of senior Brett Stoughton, freshman Kirk Gabriel, freshman Ian Hazlett and junior John Kutschke.

Junior Christian Hazlett won the 1000-yard freestyle at 11:47.23.

Freshman James Kempa touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:55.35. He also won the 500-yard backstroke at 5:14.07.

John Kutschke notched victories in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.07 and the 100-yard freestyle at 52.44

In the 200-yard IM, freshman Nick Pecoraro finished first at 2:12.03.

The Knight won both diving events on Saturday. Junior Brian Bolton won the 1-meter at 244.30 and senior Dirk Tanis won the 3-meter at 241.75.

Brett Stoughton earned the victory in the 100-yard butterfly at 54.18.

In the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Brady Boehm recorded a first-place finish at 59.75.

The Knights finished the day winning the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:29.97.

Calvin returns to action at Dec. 1 at the Calvin Invite.
