Calvin Men's Soccer Selected to Host NCAA III Regional Tournament


The Calvin men's soccer team has been selected to host a four-team regional of the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament this Friday and Saturday (November 9 & 10).

The Knights secured a spot in the tournament by winning the MIAA Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Adrian Saturday night.

Calvin will be joined in the four-team regional by Greenville College (Il.), Wisconsin-Platteville (12-2-3) and Carthage (12-8-1).

Calvin will face Greenville (15-4-2) in Friday's opening first round game at 3 p.m. with Wisconsin-Platteville (12-2-3) set to face Carthage (12-8-1) in the game to follow at 5:30 p.m.

"We are very excited to serve as host this weekend," said head coach Ryan Souders. "We know there are the competition will be very challenging. There are no easy games in the national tournament but to have another chance to play on our field is special for our program."

Calvin is making its 17th trip to the NCAA III Tournament including its 10th in the last 11 years.

Calvin is 24-14-8 in the NCAA Tournament all-time. The Knights advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA III Tournament last year.

Ticket prices are $6. Additionally, tickets are $3 for senior citizens, members of the military and students ($2 for Calvin students with an ID), and $2 for children ages two-to-12.
