"Today was a good team win," said head coach Ryan Souders. "We did a lot of things very well today. I was very pleased with how our guys came out today and did their job. We have to now get ready for Saturday and prepare for a very good Adrian team."
Senior Stephen Hooker (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) got the scoring started in the 13th minute, when he snuck the ball past the left of the keeper from the top of the box. Sophomore Jacob Witte (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) was credited with the assist.
Freshman Ian Adams (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) gave Calvin a 2-0 lead in the 35th minute. Off of a corner from junior Matt Hinds (Frankenmuth, Mich./Frankenmuth), Adams was able to edge the Trine defense and get ahold of the ball with his head and put it in the net.
Eight minutes later, sophomore Bobby McCaw (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) made it 4-0. Breaking the Thunder defense on a two-on-one sophomore Lucas Albrecht (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Christian) passed it to McCaw and he would find the back of the net.
