ALBION - The Calvin men's lacrosse team fell at league-leading Albion Wednesday night by a score of 20-5.

Calvin (4-9 overall, 0-4 MIAA) took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by junior Michael Winkler (La Quinta, Ca./Palm Desert HS) 12:52 into the game, shortly before a thunderstorm hit the Albion area. The storm forced a delay of more than an hour before the game was resumed.

Once the game resumed, Albion outscored Calvin 5-1 over the final 12:50 of the first quarter to build a 5-2 lead. Winkler scored his second goal of the game with 1:51 left in the quarter.

The Britons (10-3 overall, 4-0 MIAA) outscored the Knights 7-1 in the second quarter and 4-1 in the third and also the fourth quarter of play.

Freshman Griffin Sparling (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) scored for Calvin early in the second quarter on a feed from sophomore Max Foster (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice HS).
Freshman Andrew Gortsema (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) scored in the third quarter and Winkler scored in the fourth to notch his fourth hat trick of the season.
