Calvin Men's Golf In Sixth Through Day One of Illinois Wesleyan Invitational

NORMAL, Il. - The No. 21 Calvin men's golf team is in sixth place in a 16-team field through day one of the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational with a team score of 300 strokes.

Host Illinois Wesleyan is in first place with a team score of 284. The two-day tournament is being held at the Ironwood Golf Club.

Senior Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had the top score for Calvin on Friday with a round of 73 that has him in a tie for 12th place individually.

Freshman Mike Battiste (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) came up with a score of 75 that places him in 30th place.

Senior Alec DeJonge (Niles, Mich./Brandywine HS) and sophomore Sam Holland (Novi, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) were right behind with rounds of 76. Freshman Andrew Lack (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) rounded out the scoring with an 80.

Tournament action concludes on Saturday.
