Calvin Men's Golf Ties For Second at Steven Tyler Intercollegiate

PORTAGE, Mich. - The Calvin men's golf team took second in a nine-team field at the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate hosted by Kalamazoo College Monday afternoon at the Moors Golf Club.

Calvin tied for second with host Kalamazoo with a team score of 308. Hope took first with a score of 300.

Junior Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a big day for the Knights, earning medalist honors with a round of 71, finishing a stroke ahead of Kalamazoo's Phil Ritchie. Junior John Van Noord (Troy, Mich./Oakland Christian HS) tied for eighth with a round of 77 while sophomore Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) tied for 15th with a 79.

Junior Matthew Lumbantoruan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Morningstar Academy) had an 81 and sophomore Mitchell Knoor (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) an 84.

Calvin is back in action next Tuesday when it hosts the Knight Invite at Pilgrim's Run Golf Club in Pierson.
