Men’s Golf Takes Third at Third MIAA Jamboree

MARSHALL, Mich. – The Calvin men's golf team took third place at the third MIAA Jamboree on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights finished with a combined round of 301 strokes. Hope took first place at 289 strokes. Calvin passed Trine for third place in the MIAA at 889 strokes.

"We had some good rounds today," said head coach Brian Bolt. "We need to continue to improve and get ready for next week."

The junior duo of Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and John Van Noord (Troy, Mich./Oakland Christian) tied for third place at 72 strokes, to break even.

Freshman Joshua Song (Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar) finished tied for 14th place at 77 strokes.

In 20th place was junior Matthew Lumbantoruan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Morning Star Academy) at 80 strokes.

Shooting a round of 82 was sophomore Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) to finish tied for 24th place.

Sophomore Mitchell Knoor (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) tallied a round of 81 to record a 21st-place finish.

The Knights return to action on Monday, when they host the fourth MIAA Jamboree at Watermark.
