Calvin Men's Golf Second at Irish Hills Invitational

JACKSON, Mich. - The Calvin men's golf team took second in the final team standings of the Irish Hills Invitational hosted by Adrian at the Grande Golf Club.

Calvin finished with a two-day total of 600 strokes after firing a day one score of 297 and coming back with a two-day tally of 303.

Calvin was led by junior John Van Noord (Troy, Mich./Oakland Christian HS) who finished three under par over the 36 holes of competition. Van Noord came up with a 69 on Friday and a 72 on Saturday. His total of 141 strokes left him tied for second place in the final individual standings.

Junior Ben VanScoyk (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 74 and a 73. His overall total of 147 left him tied for sixth place.

Sophomore Sam Kuiper (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 152 (75-77) that put him in 11th place individually.

Sophomore Mitchell Knoor (Grand Rapids. Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) came in at 160 (79-81) and sophomore Alec DeJonge (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) at 164 (82-83).

Josh Gibson of Hope was the tournament medalist with a 139 (71-68).  Hope took the team title with a two-day total of 572 (291-281).

Calvin is back in action on September 21 when it competes at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Albion.
