Men’s Basketball Edged by Millikin, 68-63

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Knights fell in the semifinals of the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Classic on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Wittenberg University. The Maroon and Gold fell to Millikin, 68-63. The Knights will in the consolation finals at 2:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Millikin was able to take the lead on Thursday with some sharp shooting from beyond the arc. Millikin shot 13 of 27 from three-point range.

Calvin and Millikin were in a defensive battle in the first half with the two teams exchanging the lead. Millikin would hit a three-point basket as time expired on the half and took a 34-25 lead into halftime.

Trailing 44-34, Calvin would go on a 13-5 run to cut the deficit to 49-47. Junior Mike Siegel (Fremont, Mich./Fremont) had seven points for Calvin during the run.

The Knights would cut the deficit to three points on multiple occasions, but were unable to regain the lead in the second half.

Mike Siegel led all players on Thursday with a career-high 19 points. Senior Cam Denney (Bluffton, Ind./Norwell) recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 rebounds and 13 points.

The Knights outrebounded Millikin on Thursday, 38-35.
