Calvin Men's Basketball Team Receives NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Calvin men's basketball team has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Team Academic Excellence Award.

The NABC announced the third annual Team Academic Excellence Awards today, created by the NABC Committee on Academics. The award, earned by more than 175 colleges and universities, recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2014-15 season.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA Divisions I and II, must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2014-15 season.

Under the direction of head coach Kevin Vande Streek, the Calvin men's basketball team achieved a cumulative team grade point average of 3.422 during the 2014-15 academic year. On the court, Calvin achieved a won-loss record of 22-7 while capturing MIAA regular season and MIAA Tournament titles. The Knights also reached the second round of the NCAA III Tournament.
