Trevor VanDuyn Named MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Calvin freshman Trevor VanDuyn has been named the MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

A native of Jenison and a graduate of Jenison High School, VanDuyn is receiving MIAA Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

This past week, VanDuyn helped Calvin post a 4-1 record as the Knights defeated Illinois Institute of Technology and then took three out of four games in a weekend series with Albion.

Over the course of the week, VanDuyn made three appearances and recorded a save in each appearance. In four innings of work, he struck out five and walked two while allowing just one run which was unearned.

VanDuyn has served as Calvin's primary closer this spring and has a season record of 2-2 along with four saves and an earned run average 2.25.

Calvin returns to action on Friday when it travels to Alma for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
